Concept
Cross Borders, Ignite Imagination
XBP aims to discover and support new talent who will create the next generation of video works.
We are actively soliciting film and drama projects of all lengths and genres.
Length and genre are flexible!
We encourage creators to explore beyond traditional frameworks, including but not limited to human drama, art, action, romance, horror, or documentary. We seek works filled with expressions that you find compelling, regardless of whether they fit neatly into existing genres. Our goal is to foster innovative creations that expand the boundaries of video expression.
Screening Process: Work and Presentation
The screening will feature both a work screening and a presentation screening. You can enhance the understanding of your work by sharing your intentions and passion through a presentation. This presentation does not necessarily need to be delivered by the writer; you may collaborate with a producer who comprehends your work well and participates as a team.

In addition to awarding prize money as production funds to the winners, XBP will provide business support to facilitate overseas sales of the work and help to launch it as a project.
Please note that whether or not your work will be developed into a business project will be decided
after the award process, which is separate from the award itself.
The establishment of a business project is not guaranteed following the award.
Application Target
Individuals, corporations, and organizations are invited to apply. Students and professionals, regardless of their experience level, are welcome. If you are involved in various creative roles, such as directors, producers, or screenwriters, please apply with the best team you can assemble for your creative ideas. In the project division, actors and voice actors are also encouraged to submit proposals that include their own appearance.
Application Projects
We are looking for live-action movies and dramas, works or projects. Works produced and presented in the past can also be submitted.
- However, it must be completed within 3 years.
- Works that use CG and motion graphics are also welcome.
- The definition of "live-action" is up to your discretion.
There is also an animation competition as a separate award.
Completed Work Division
Grand Prize¥3,000,000We are seeking original and unrestricted expressions across all genres and lengths. Our goal is to discover new talent that pushes beyond established boundaries.
Please fill out the basic information for your project in the application form and submit the following materials:
- Video Submission:
- Upload your video work to YouTube as a private link. The length of the video is not a concern, but it must have been completed within the last three years.
- Member Sheet:
- In the specified format, provide a list of all team members, including participating creators, and an organizational chart. Applications from individuals are also welcome.
- The following additional materials are optional and will be used as references during the selection process: * They are not required items.
- Project proposal, Storyboard, Script, Portfolio, Other previously produced works
Project Division
Grand Prize¥1,000,000We are looking for project ideas before they take shape. We welcome proposals for unique and new video experiences—appeal for potential with project proposals and presentations. Conceptual power, feasibility, and marketability are evaluation points.
Please enter the basic information about the project in the application form and submit the following materials.
- Project proposal:
- Please summarize the work's highlights, appeal points, etc. The format does not matter. Please also state the assumed length.
- A long plot that shows the content of the work:
- Within 2000 characters in Japanese

the final presentation
at theX BORDER Media Art Festival held in Okinawa!
The event organizer will cover travel and accommodation expenses to the final screening location in Okinawa for one team representative or individual, typically the director. Additionally, travel and accommodation costs will be determined as specified by the event secretariat.

At the event stage of the X BORDER Media Art Festival held in Okinawa on July 20, 2025, you will make the final presentation and the winners will be decided.

- QCan I apply for works that have been submitted to other competitions?
- AYes, you can. However, please refrain from works that have already won other prizes.
- QI am a minor. Do I need parental consent?
- AYes, it is necessary. For applications from those under the age of 18 as of April 1, 2025, please fill in the consent form on the application form with the consent from your parent or guardian or the person from the school you belong to.
- QCan I apply as a company?
- AYes, welcome!
- QIs the length really free?
- AYes, it's free. It can be any number of hours as long as it fits the video project for the application.
